Back to Play Another Day!

March 27, 2019

Hi all! I can't believe it is already 2019! I have no clue where 2018 went, it flew right by! This year has started off at a quick pace and it seems just like I was gaining speed at conquering life and all of my to-do list (both literal and those I include because I apparently love the pressure!), my asthma started acting up. Coupled with the seasonal sicknesses that roll like a mist through the inner circles of our mama tribe, play date circles, and general public, my "self-care" goals of getting things done have not gone to plan!

As a single mom, this was an even bigger blow because I try and make a point to prepare as much as I can on my weekends without my little in order to ensure my attention is devoted to him, his therapies, and whatever else comes up throughout the week. This includes meal prep, cleaning, working, grocery shopping, laundry and the tons of other chores that never seem quite done.

However, this weekend I was finally able to begin tackling my to-do list and was quite productive. I even got to attend a friends baby shower!

With all of that, I have some things in the works, including a possible permanent indoor location to host play dates and other activities.  Which will be perfect, especially with the weather being so fickle and summer coming up. I have so many activities planned and can't wait to have you join us.

If you haven't yet, check out some of the fun we have at our monthly Play Days at the Canyon Lake Library and follow my Facebook page for updates on all of my upcoming play dates.

Here's a run down of this seasons past Play Days:

September 2018 marked the beginning of Fall (my favorite season) and my second year co-hosting the monthly Play Day.

September's Play Day celebrated my favorite season with two Fall crafts.  As usual, Ms. Cheryl was on hand with her Movin N' Music Class and story time ended the day. However, instead of the usual raffle, every kiddo in received free kids meals courtesy of Coco's Restaurant and Bakery in Menifee, CA.

October's Play Day is always a favorite of mine and guests alike. Halloween is such a festive time and to celebrate treat bags were given to all the kiddos which included free kids meals to Chick-fil-A in Murrieta, Ca, toys, and stickers and our craft was paper cup spiders. Ms. Cheryl rounded out the festivities with a Halloween themed music class and story time ended the day.

For November the spirit of the season was in the air and we celebrated those we are thankful for by making friendship bracelets.

By December the holiday season was in full affect and due to the holiday our Play Day was a week early! But just in time to paint salt dough ornaments using a recipe I have perfected and have available for purchase here.

January 2019 we celebrated Valentine's day early! Another great holiday for celebration, fun crafts, and sweets! Chick-fil-A Murrieta, Ca was, again, so generous to provide each child in attendance a free kids meal. Ms, Cheryl had a Valentine's day themed music class and our craft was salt dough friendship necklaces available for purchase here.

One awesome part about our play dates is the opportunity to provide #giveaways from retailers, local business, small and home-based businesses. Some of our giveaways include kids meals to Chick-fil_A, Coco's Bakery, BlueHost,  Young Living, and  All for Aiden Creations

February's Play Day was in honor of my sons current obsession (one of them), we made paper plate rainbows and wind chimes.  It also marked the last event the head librarian, Ms. Sandy, would be helping to host.  She was promoted to a new location and we wish her all the best. Without her taking a chance on me Play Day would not be what it is today.  I wanted to be able to create a free space where I could have a play date, rain or shine.  I think what we have created is so much more than I could have expected and I will forever be grateful.

In March we celebrated Dr. Suess's birthday with a straw and paint craft, and welcomed Canyon Lake Library's new director Ms. Amanda! While this Play Day had a few changes and surprises, the kids adapted well and fun was had.  Check out the fancy video below.

Our next Play Day is April 29th and we will be celebrating Spring. Stay tuned for more details as they are solidified and please like and follow my Facebook Page for sneak peaks  of giveaways, Mentoring Tiny Humans events, and approved local events.
