About the event

Book Club is back with our next pick "The Explosive Child" by Ross W. Greene. Join us January 6, 2024 as we have our first meeting about the book. We’ll be discussing the first chapter and key themes to ensure everyone can participate. Its okay if you haven’t started yet, our book club is designed for those who want or love to read but don’t always have the time.  It's a goal that can be adjusted and just there for those of us who may need a deadline.📖🎉.

We will also have a few giveaways for those in attendance.

Join our private group to chat outside of our meeting.

According to Amazon description: “‘The Explosive Child’ offers valuable insights into understanding and managing challenging behaviors in children. Based on collaborative problem-solving techniques, Ross W. Greene provides practical strategies for parents and caregivers…Dr. Greene’s Collaborative Problem Solving model promotes working with explosive children to solve the problems that precipitate explosive episodes, and teaching these kids the skills they lack.”

I truly feel this book is a staple for any parent. While this is a book widely touted in the neurodiverse and special needs communities and/or those with “behavioral issues”, all children go through developmental stages or exhibit these behaviors. It’s also patience inducing for the authoritative/gentle parent😅.

For those who enjoy and value my parenting style, this book is an in-depth look and explains so much better reasons why I take at the neuro-affirming and collaborative approach with my tiny human. I have also found that as parents WE also exhibit some of these behaviors in parental moments of overwhelm and overstimulation. I have personally used many of these strategies with my tiny human and with myself on several occasions.

Dr. Ross Greene, a distinguished clinician and pioneer in the treatment of kids with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, has worked with thousands of children. His perspective stems from the notion “kids aren’t attention-seeking, manipulative, or unmotivated, and their parents aren’t passive, permissive pushovers. Rather, explosive kids are lacking some crucial skills in the domains of flexibility/adaptability, frustration tolerance, and problem solving, and they require a different approach to parenting.”

Feel free to join even if you haven't had the chance to get or read the first chapter book This is a relaxed and informal setting where you can share your thoughts, learn from others, and enjoy the camaraderie of a book club without the traditional demands.
