About the event

Join us for an educational field trip to the San Diego Safari Park!

This will be a self-guided tour with group meet-up options throughout the day to further your students' learning and educational experience. Additionally, further engage your learner with the optional printouts, literature, and activities made available on their website here: https://sdzwildlifeexplorers.org/activities

Or, add on the optional service of having an educational packet ready at check-in. This includes some of their educational worksheets pre-printed, along with exclusive Mentoring Tiny Humans fun sheets, scavenger hunt, and field trip form.

Sales from our shop help fund our free community events, tours (like this one),andour sensory spaces.

As an educational tour with special educational pricing, this is available to students and their chaperone(s). The ratio of students to chaperones must follow a 1:1 ratio as this is not a drop-off event. This means one chaperone (or more) per family of student learners.

For those who need to bring additional chaperones or caregivers due to disability, special need or to accommodate your learners needs, please email Typhanie at mentoringtinyhumans@gmail.com .

Mentoring Tiny Humans works closely with the special needs and neurodivergent community, the Safari Park and I have accounted for this need in our ratio and free caregiver passes are available on a limited and first come basis.

By purchasing tickets, you must be able to provide proof of educational enrollment upon request by either Mentoring Tiny Humans and/or the San Diego Safari Park prior to the event and/or the day of.

This event is PREPAID and NONREFUNDABLE. Payments must be made before November 17 to reserve your spot. Payments and additional add-ons will not be accepted the day of.

We will be meeting near the front of the entrance near the "loop" by 10:15 AM and entering as a group no later than 10:30 AM. Please arrive early enough to allow for parking, unloading, and check-in process. If you cannot make this time and enter with us as a group, there is no way for you to enter with us. If you have passes you are free to meet up and enter with us or at any time.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

I will have our mobile sensory space available for those who need it, along with a few activities, and fidget packs for purchase. Anything purchased from our shop will also be provided at check-in (unless you’d like to pick up earlier).

The Safari Park has wonderful options for the disabled and ND community including sensory items and fidgets, headphones, and weighted vest upon request (and when available). They also have mobility devices (such as electric scooters) available for rent and a bus with pick up locations throughout the park that can drop you at designated locations throughout the park.

The tram ride also has a waiting area and priority seating for the disabled and ND community.

They allow stroller wagons and trained service animals. For further information check out their accessibility guide here:

Since COVID the Safari Park has been going through a few changes and some things are a bit different. For those, like my son, who may have certain expectations you may want to check out their website. Here are a few things we noticed:

The Hamburger buns at Thorntree Cafe has changed since reopening. They do not have the dusty stuff on top. Also, they no longer have all of the Asain dishes but revamped their menu.

The bird show is finally back but very different. It is mostly video, talking, and a few animals. I think two birds fly overhead and they no longer have the audience come up. They do walk around though.

The elephant exhibit is expanding and it is currently closed. You can walk by but it's not as easy to see.

The Cheetah Run is no longer running.

The circle of life is ever-present, if you have grown fond of any particular animal, please check the website for current changes
